As 3G takes hold and the markets grow, the focus is moving away
from the battles of the air interface wars as operators and vendors set
out together in quest for the Holy Grail of 3G (and all subsequent
comms generations) a single, universal standard that will permit true
multi-dimensional convergence of markets, technologies, spectrum and
networks.
It might sound a pious and perhaps impossible hope, but people are
already beginning to think about it and to lay plans for a one-world
telecoms future.
