FLAG
appoints Senior VP Sales & Marketing
London, UK – 19 August 2004: FLAG Telecom,
a leading provider of international wholesale network
transport and communications services, today announced
the appointment of Serge Fortin as Senior Vice President,
Sales and Marketing, FLAG Telecom and a member of
the company’s Executive Team. Prior to joining
FLAG, Serge was Vice Chairman, Teleglobe, Canada.
Patrick Gallagher, CEO FLAG Telecom, said: “This
is a newly created position on the Executive Team
and will play a key contributing role in the next
stage of FLAG’s development. Serge has an
extremely strong international telecommunications
background and a wealth of experience in our industry
segment. I look forward to him taking a leading
role in further developing a strong international
sales force, creating solid customer partnerships,
and building further on our brand recognition and
company awareness to deliver a combined strategic
vision of FLAG and Reliance.”
At Teleglobe, Serge held a number of senior positions
in engineering, operations, marketing and sales,
including President, Worldwide Sales, Executive
Vice President – Voice, Chief Operating Officer
and most recently Vice Chairman, Teleglobe Canada.
Prior to joining Teleglobe Serge was President and
CEO of Bell Actimedia, managing the Yellow Pages,
electronic business, Sympatico portal and Sympatico
Internet access provider. Serge began his career
at Bell Canada, where he held various executive
roles in Engineering, Operations, Strategic Planning,
Marketing, Budgeting and Sales.
Serge, who will be based in the London offices of
FLAG Telecom, has a bachelor’s degree in pure
and applied sciences from the Universite de Sherbrooke.
