2) Pal Olsson joins ECT as Operations Director
The European Computer Telecoms Group significantly
augments its European engineering and service team
in response to double-digit growth.
Munich, 12 August 2004 – The European Computer
Telecoms Group (ECT) has appointed Pal Olsson as
Operations Director with responsibility for the
network implementation and maintenance services
provided at the ECT Sales and Service Centres throughout
Europe. Olsson has extensive experience in the design
of telecommunications networks, capacity planning,
network implementation and quality control. He reports
directly to and is the deputy of the ECT Group’s
Chief Operations Officer Josef Hüttinger.
Previous to his new position at ECT, Olsson spent
over three years at the Tele2 Group, Europe’s
leading alternative provider for fixed-line and
mobile telephony and one of ECT’s most important
customers. He planned and managed the implementation
of Tele2’s fixed-line telephony networks in
the Czech Republic, Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania,
the Netherlands and Poland. In the mobile arena,
he has been Tele2’s technical representative
in the Mobile LRIC Workgroup which included all
GSM Telecom operators in Sweden and reported to
the local regulatory authority. His last project
at Tele2 was the new ring back tone service realized
with ECT technology. “In the last
six months, ECT has been awarded numerous tenders
by major European carriers, e.g. for Ring Back Tone
Service, Intelligent Networks, Number Portability,
Prepaid GSM and Service Number Solutions. It’s
thus only natural that we are further developing
our engineering organization accordingly, doubling
the number of service engineers in the field. Such
major growth, of course, requires an additional
management layer, and I am thus absolutely delighted
to have won such a highly professional and experienced
engineer as my second in command,” said Josef
Hüttinger, Chief Operating Officer of ECT.
Olsson is based at ECT’s headquarters in Munich
and will develop and implement network and service
concepts for ECT customers throughout Europe as
well as oversee their implementation. He will also
serve as an interface between the local ECT engineering
teams in each country and ECT Headquarters in Munich.
”I am excited to join one of Europe’s
most successful and innovative telecoms companies.
I am looking forward to new challenges and to further
enhance the excellent relationship between our service
centres and our valued customers all over Europe,”
said Olsson. |
