The Future

In the future voice will be seen as a function, not a service.  The value is in the larger integrated application and then the question behind that change is 'who pays?' Users or third parties.

The Present

We still assume we use phone calls as the primary means of communication, but why are we calling smartphones 'terminals'?   Intelligence and value has already migrated to the end device. Perhaps things have moved on and the industry hasn't quite caught up?
