Over the past few months I've video blogged on the media phone; I've explored some of its applications and played with a couple of the first examples, both based on the OpenPeak architecture, using Intel Atom processors.

Hopefully you can see the potential for this class of device. The key to the media phone concept is its ease of use, it’s almost instant availability, its unobtrusive form factor and the fact that it's designed to live in specific locations and stay tethered within them.  Add to that low cost and what you have is a device that's pretty much a blank canvass.  Wrapped in the right way with services and specific applications, it can be developed to meet a wide range of roles and, from the industry point of view, to play a prominent part in wide range of commercial strategies.
