Alcatel-Lucent’s Proactive Services to enable Telkomsel, Indonesia’s largest mobile provider, to identify and optimize network performance to improve service quality, monitor network performance and to ensure network reliability.
Paris, December 4, 2012 — Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) is providing proactive monitoring for the optical network of Telkomsel, Indonesia’s largest mobile service provider, to ensure the delivery of the best cellular communication experiences to more than 121 million customers it serves.
Alcatel-Lucent’s suite of Proactive Services predict, prevent, and prioritize network issues, enabling Telkomsel to allocate resources to guarantee network availability and ensure uninterrupted service. This will enable Telkomsel to define key performance indicators based on industry benchmarks to provide optimum performance and reporting.

The initial agreement between Telkomsel and Alcatel-Lucent focuses on proactive monitoring of the optical communications network that Telkomsel uses for the transport of data services such as video, high-speed Internet access and other applications. The agreement’s scope also provides coverage for third party optical equipment in the network.

Telkomsel is the fiftieth in a growing list of service providers selecting Alcatel-Lucent’s Proactive Services portfolio, which includes performance management tools developed by Bell Labs that enable service providers to continually monitor their fixed or mobile networks. These tools are used by dedicated experts at Alcatel-Lucent to help service providers actively address issues before they escalate into major operational concerns.
