Steve Christian, VP of Marketing, makes the case for the network operator to own the whole home network. The one who owns the quality of experience should ultimately own the home network. The broadband service provider manages the service from customer support to an “always on” connection. By taking control of the subscriber relationship, they can also control their influence inside the home. Owning the whole home network is really the holy grail for a service provider as it provides the most significant opportunity and challenge for next generation entertainment services - although it comes with a sting in the tail of non trivial user support costs.
