Android handset maker Samsung says it has no intention of following the lead of HTC and settling its patent dispute with Apple. By Phil Goldstein
Samsung Electronics has ruled out a patent litigation settlement deal with Apple akin to the one Apple and HTC announced last weekend. J.K. Shin, president of Samsung’s mobile division, told South Korea’s Yonhap News that; “it may be true that HTC may have agreed to pay $276 million to Apple, but we don’t intend to (negotiate) at all.”
In August Apple won a $1.05bn damage award from a US jury in a patent infringement trial with Samsung. Samsung has appealed the ruling and the two smartphone giants are still engaged in patent litigation around the world.
