Drop it and run? Comms minister tipped to leave UK government

UK Communications Minister, Stephen Carter is preparing to publish his mega Digital Britain report next week and then, according to the latest gossip, he's off.

According to The Times newspaper, Lord Carter of Barnes is to leave the Labour Government in the summer, and once his report into Internet and media policy in the UK is released.

Unlike many other UK MPs - who like to make their money in property development by funding home improvements through the (until recently) liberal expenses system - Carter is capable of pulling down serious money in business and is expected to land a lucrative job running something big and profitable.

By the way (and in case you were wondering) Stephen Carter is not a 'real' Lord. He previously headed up what became the dominant UK Cable Company (NTL, then Virgin Media), and then subsequently became UK telecoms and media regulator.
