Geoff Hollingworth, Head of Product Marketing, Ericsson Cloud Systems

The industry, indeed the world, is at an interesting point, Geoff tells Martyn Warwick. The technology and the resulting business models thrive on scale, so if you have a competitor who gets on the hockey stick of industrialised infrastructure and digitisation before you do, it’s very difficult to react: the competition is brutal. He says what Ericsson recommends to all of its customers and partners is to get on that journey quickly and effectively. That's why Ericsson likes working with VMware. Ericsson itself has scale in terms of countries and customers and therefore VMware is a perfect fit for the task of industrialising the infrastructure, given its already massive level of deployment. In other words VMware is already on the hocky stick.
