“Ideas are products,” Edmond tells Guy Daniels, “the CTO’s role is to take ideas from across the company and to transform them into executables.” UK supermarket chain Tesco has a rich history with technology but now, he says, the game has changed. Today companies, Tesco included, must reframe how the technology will be embedded in the business as opposed to technology being a separate item. At Tesco the groceries aren’t the product, digital ideas and their application is the product. The CTO’s goal, therefore, is not agile development, but agile products where IoT can play an important role.
