David Orloff, Chair, Small Cell Forum

The Small Cell Forum has announced Release 9, in time for its tenth anniversary. It provides everything an operator needs to know to deploy small cells in hyper-dense networks. It has also released information from its operator members, which reveals that 79 per cent of operators plan to deploy small cells in a densified manner before 2020.

As well as hyper-dense networks, the Forum has a work stream focused on enabling the digitised enterprise. An enterprise advisory council commenced work earlier this year, looking at a whole range of industry verticals, so that the Forum's members can work alongside these enterprise customers to better understand their needs.

The Forum is focused on being at the heart of the industry, working alongside other industry associations and enterprises, but it is now going to start work on developing the work it does with operators, to help drive its ongoing work plan as the industry moves towards 5G.
