As small cell deployments accelerate, and with an eye on the game-changing potential of 5G architectures, are we about to see an end to the monolithic Radio Access Network, and how can HetNets better serve operators’ needs? The Small Cell Forum has published a new integrated HetNet architecture framework, which outlines the key drivers for HetNet deployment. It is also moving it focus up the stack, from promoting the benefits of small cells for improved network coverage to their use by industry verticals in supporting new services and revenue streams.
