Offload is still the major driver for the deployment of small cell technology, says Vedat Eyuboglu. Given that essentially financial driver, the economics of the total deployment is especially important. There's no use winning big CapEx savings on the small cell technology itself if it costs three times as much to provide the backhaul. For that reason Vedat urges telcos to leverage as much standard IT infrastructure - such as Ethernet - as possible
