Leveraging existing small cell bachhaul at street level is a difficult task. Small cells need to offload traffic to macro cells, so the macro cell backhaul network needs to be robust enough not only for the current macro traffic, but also the small cell backhaul traffic that will be added in the coming years. 60GHz equipment offers high capacity, and being unlicensed allows for easy deployment in the street level environment.
