Why SDN needs a common code base and no more proprietary APIs

Neela Jacques, Executive Director, OpenDaylight Project

With NFV and SDN the network is programmable, enabling easier communication with different hardware elements via APIs. But there are so many different implementations, it makes it difficult to standardise. APIs need to be developed with new commands and language, and OpenDaylight advocates the creation of a common code base and the end of proprietary APIs.
