SDN and NFV are transformational technologies for service providers. They enable the separation of the application, control and infrastructure layers, allowing networks to be deployed in a more efficient way. The Metro Ethernet Forum sees growth in the wireless packet core, as mobile data levels increase, and operators need to respond to traffic surges.
