The rise of the open source movement over the past couple of years has significantly helped SDN continue its momentum with vendors and developers; it is estimated that up to 1,500 developers are already working on Open Daylight framework projects. What's more, telcos are starting to get more comfortable with idea of open source, and it's now emerging as a vital component of the technology adoption process for SDN and its ongoing standardisation.
