As NFV moves beyond the initial technology and platform development, the work is shifting towards the deployment of services, testing for interoperability and ultimately commercialisation. While there is much work that has been done by different members of the open source community and the respective vendors, the role of OPNFV is gaining importance at the unifying facilitator to bring together all the components to enable end-to-end services. This panel explores the challenges of preparing open source technologies for commercial operator deployments, particular as 5G standardisation looms in the horizon.
