Vendors should operate out in the 'open' where SPs can see them

Chris Price, Strategist, OpenSource, Ericsson

Chris Price says that both sides of the industry, the operators and the vendors, had different expectations of OPNFV when it began. In the event, and unsurprisingly, some of these expectations were realistic and others were not. However, over the past couple of years much has been learnt and whilst there is still room for improvement progress has been astounding and it has had a big impact on Ericsson. He says that vendors must prove their trustworthiness to service providers who really want influence rather than overt control them, and one way to build that trust is to operate, transparently, within an open source framework.
