How important is open source for telcos? asks Guy Daniels. Prodip says there’s a lot of examples of open source working in the telecoms arena already. The question is, can we get it to the next level where we’re not just using open source in little pockets and surrounding it with proparietary software, but can we build whole, large scale systems out of it and then add on things which add value but which may not be available as open source?
