Lakshmi Sharma, Senior Director of Product Management, Brocade

Lakshmi Sharma of Brocade says that, by itself and alone, NFV will not necessarily greatly change global communications because CSPs, telcos and network operators already possess the technologies, skills and expertise required to provide sophisticated and robust comms services and applications. She says they could carry on pretty much in the way they have always done but would inevitably lose relevance and ground to OTT players who come at comms from a radically different direction. However, joint open NFV ecosystems, such as HPE Open NFV and Network Builders, foster innovation by building tested and validated solutions collaboratively and providing the components necessary to enable fully-integrated NFV solutions directly into a CSP's network.
