When the expedition began, On-Demand Networking and Self-Serve through Portals/UI's was the target to enable the customer. This "single-pane-of-glass" approach for network control functions is quickly becoming more of a secondary, or administrative, role. The Enterprise, Datacenter, Cloud Exchange, and Next-Generation Communication Providers now seek to more intelligently integrate their software-centric ecosystems with those that provide a Network-as-a-Service platform.
