12:30 EXECUTIVE PANEL – Automating the Network for Zero Touch

Industry leaders debate the issues for advancement

The advent of NFV+SDN presents a great opportunity for – and is the necessary prerequisite to – a dramatic increase in the automation of network operations and service delivery, and also answers calls for a re-working of established OSS/BSS. Already, there is much talk of the "Self-Driving Network", Cognitive Networks, AI (Artificial Intelligence), ML (Machine Learning), and so on.

As NFV+SDN approaches large-scale deployment in production networks, Network Automation – a challenge that has long existed in one form or another- is now the renewed focus of fresh industry thinking.

This interactive Executive Panel will cover key themes, including:

  • Zero Touch as an ideal, is a distant goal and a huge endeavour. So, where is the best place to start, and with what scope?
  • What new mechanisms and instruments are available to help bring about Zero Touch and how will concepts like AI and open source tools be productised for application?
  • How fast can the pace of change be? Is this a business-case initiative, or a generational infrastructure evolution?

Andrew Dugan | CTO | Level 3 Communications
Shawn Hakl | Vice President | Verizon
