MEF Carrier Service Orchestration Workshop

This Workshop has been organised by MEF leadership

MEF is the driving force enabling agile, assured, and orchestrated Third Network services for the digital economy and the hyper-connected world. The Third Network concept combines the agility and ubiquity of the Internet with the performance and security of CE 2.0 networks.

Third Network services provide an on-demand experience with user-directed control over service capabilities and cloud connectivity. These new services are delivered over automated, virtualized, and interconnected networks powered by LSO, SDN, NFV, and CE 2.0.

OpenLSO (Open Lifecycle Service Orchestration) is an orchestration ecosystem using open source partners that enable a reference implementation of open source solutions and interfaces that adhere to the MEF LSO specification. OpenLSO will focus on real working open source code for core LSO functions and open standard APIs for traditional and emerging SDN & NFV network infrastructures, such as OpenCS.

OpenCS (Open Connectivity Services) is an MEF-facilitated ecosystem that develops reference implementations of segments of MEF-defined Third Network services using any combination of open and/or closed software, open spec hardware, commercial devices (e.g. CE 2.0 certified devices), SDN and NFV.

This workshop will provide attendees with practical information for the development LSO capabilities within the MEF LSO Innovation Platform, focusing on lessons learned during the implementation of a major multi-operator SD-WAN Orchestrated L3VPN. Our workshop will present different approaches for deploying virtual network functions and services onto foundational Carrier Ethernet (CE) connectivity services.
