The landmark Telefonica partnership with HP for NFV may have caught the industry by surprise with its scale and scope, but, Jorge tells Martyn Warwick, discussions had been going on for five or six years. Jorge explains what makes the deal different from the trials and limited deployments announced so far; how the deal means both sides (HP and Telefonica) will have to run hard to keep up if goals are to be met; and why “lots of small companies are popping up” to have their products certified for the HP platform.
