Orange Business Services rolls out its Datavenue IoT solution globally
- Modular solution to help businesses develop new IoT-based services
- Already operates more than 10m active B2B objects in France
- Since its local launch in 2015, it processes 65m items of technical data per minute
Orange Business Services has announced the worldwide launch of Datavenue, its internet of things (IoT) and data analytics modular solution that first launched in France in 2015. Orange says that it already operates more than 10 million active B2B objects and processes 65 million items of technical data per minute.
According to a recent survey from IDC, 56 per cent of IT decision makers consider IoT as strategic. With Datavenue, Orange is looking to gain further access into the enterprise market, helping multinational and large national corporations capitalise on the opportunities offered by IoT. Datavenue utilises Orange’s network of 700 IoT and analytics experts worldwide, as well as data scientists, developers, consultants, statisticians and IoT security experts. The solution comprises four modules:
The first selects relevant objects and sources of data. Orange offers a range of certified and tested connected objects, such as sensors, cameras or modules to connect existing assets, and Datavenue has a catalogue of data that includes population movement analytics using anonymised data from mobile networks.
The second connects objects with the most suitable and secured networks. Obviously this plays into Orange’s core strengths as a network operator, with global cellular networks, embedded SIM support, fixed and satellite networks, as well as low-power solutions, such as LoRa.
The third module manages data to improve efficiencies and create enhanced services. Orange offers both cloud-based and on-premises software solutions, encompassing remote device management, processing and visualisation.
The final module controls key elements of enterprise transformation projects, with end-to-end security and data protection, integration with information systems and service scalability.
“We have developed extensive vertical expertise around IoT and data analytics in several sectors, including automotive, industry, smart cities, healthcare and smart homes,” said Olivier Ondet, IoT and analytics vice president, Orange Business Services. “Our solutions have already improved performance and employee safety through industrial machinery monitoring, enhanced patient care with remote assistance, and enriched citizen well-being with smart city services. This is now all being brought together to support the international launch of Orange Datavenue.”
