Much of the enormous publicity surrounding the emergence and growth of the "Internet of Things" is focused on sectors such as automotive, healthcare and many others from the domestic residential and enterprise viewpoints. However, the "Industrial Internet of Things" is certainly equally as important given that it encompasses the entire globe from the primary industries all the way through to the ultimate in the latest of high-tech. The potential is truly massive but there are challenges to be overcome, particularly with reference to security issues and a fragmented and partial ecosystem.
