The next trick for SDN/NFV is interoperability, Franklin says. The telecoms industry wants to move to the technologies and capabilities that Dell has mastered over the last seven or eight years in the cloud space. So Dell's approach is to take what it already knows, meet the performance, reliability and manageability requirements for the carrier network - which is different to the data centre - and then just provide the things that it feels it does really well rather than trying to invent something from ground up.
