Charlie Ashton, Director of Business Development, Wind River

Charlie explains the four major concerns customers have as they look to adopt virtualisation: how to maintain top line revenue through the transition; how to maximise reductions in operational costs; as they view virtualisation as a market disruption that they can take advantage of if they get to market first; and finally they want to avoid any risk of vendor lock-in. Charlie explains how working with HPE, Wind River can provide a solution set to solve those problems. As far as getting to market first, he doesn’t think there are any problems about telcos moving ahead with 5G ahead of final standards as most of the outstanding issues are software-based.
