Lawrence Lamers, Standards Architect, VMware.

Lawrence Lamers points out that there's a big difference between marketing-speak and the reality of the emergence of standards that will underpin virtual networks. The fact is that the move towards NFV is progressing well and surprisingly quickly given the complexity of the transformation process. It takes time for ecosystems to emerge and mature, for the supply chain to to adapt and for the new skill sets necessary to transform the network to be disseminated and applied. Basically the road to NFV is a long one but the industry is well on its way along it.
